Genesis 1 — In the Beginning… God Spoke, and Everything Changed

Genesis 1 reveals the power and order of God's Word across the 7 days of creation. It is the foundation for who God is, what He has done, and why we exist.

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
— Genesis 1:1

Before anything existed, God was. Before anything was created, God had a plan.

7 Days of Creation — A Perfect Design, in Perfect Order

  1. Day 1 — Light — God separated light from darkness (v.3-5)
  2. Day 2 — Sky — God created the expanse (v.6-8)
  3. Day 3 — Land & Seas, Plants & Trees — God gathered the waters and made the earth produce life (v.9-13)
  4. Day 4 — Sun, Moon & Stars — God set lights in the sky for seasons, days and years (v.14-19)
  5. Day 5 — Sea Creatures & Birds — God filled the waters and the sky with life (v.20-23)
  6. Day 6 — Animals & Humankind — God created according to His kind, and made man in His image (v.24-31)
  7. Day 7 — Rest — God finished His work and rested. He blessed the seventh day (v.1-2)
“And God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good.”
— Genesis 1:31

7 Deep Revelations from Genesis 1

  1. God speaks, and reality responds — Everything was created by His Word. Your spoken words carry creative power (v.3, 6, 9, 11, 14, 20, 24)
  2. Order before beauty — God established structure before filling it. He is a God of order, not chaos (v.1-2, 6-8, 9-10)
  3. God specializes and separates — He separated light from darkness, waters above from waters below. Separation brings clarity and purpose (v.4, 7)
  4. Time begins with purpose — Days, seasons, years — time itself exists to serve God's plan (v.14)
  5. Creation declares God's glory — Every creature, every star, every wave points to its Creator (Psalm 19:1)
  6. Humanity is the crown — Man was created in God's image, not the product of evolution. We reflect His nature and rule (v.26-27)
  7. Rest is part of God's design — God worked six days and rested; rest is not weakness, it is worship (v.31, 2:2-3)

Genesis 1 is not just the beginning of the world, it is the foundation of your life.
